Surprisingly Useful Travel Gadgets For Your Next Flight

My husband and I fly quite a bit. My family lives pretty far away and we both travel for work several times a year. And every time we fly I notice another passenger using some travel gadget that I know would make my next flight that much more enjoyable. Sometimes having the right gear is what makes all the difference. So here are 10 travel gadgets I’ve discovered that I think you’ll like to.

1. Luggage Scale

Now picture this. You’re at the check in counter with a line of cranky passengers behind you. You study the scale as it steadies and your bag is overweight by 3 lbs. You look to the agent, and she ain’t budging.

This little gadget would have saved me from that panicked feeling I’ve felt too many times as I frantically pulled whatever I could out of my bag to put in my carryon.

I need this in my life!

2. Sleepy Ride – Airplane Footrest

Doesn’t this look like it would make a long cross country flight a little more bearable? Again, had no idea I needed a foot rest until I read the reviews.

And… now it’s in my cart.

3. Cable Organizer Bag

You can bet that I will be buying this cable organizer for my husband for Father’s Day this year. His backpack is a tangled mess of headphones and charging cords. Let’s just say organization is not his strong suit.

4. Anti-theft Travel Backpack

I have carried every kind of carryon bag you can imagine and by far my favorite is a backpack

No more smacking passengers and their chairs as I walk down the aisle to my seat. And this one has several anti-theft features including an RFID blocking pocket for your credit cards and slash-resistant mesh body panels? Yikes.

Hopefully you won’t need that but you know, just in case…

5. Collapsible Water Bottle

A water bottle is a staple carryon item for me. I save a ton of money by filling one at the airport (after I’m through security of course). But it would be really convenient to be able to collapse it when I’m not using it. I have a stainless steel bottle that I love, but it’s heavy and takes up a lot of room.

6. RFID Blocking Wallet

I love this wallet for when I’m carrying a slim cross-body bag in addition to my carryon. It comes in approximately 1200 colors (just kidding. But seriously, a lot of colors).

7. Travel Blanket

Anyone else always cold on an airplane? I love a travel blanket like this for traveling during warmer months when I don’t have a need for a jacket or sweater. It even comes with a travel pillow.  And a storage pocket! And it clips on to your bag!

Ok, I’m sold.

8. Hidden Travel Pouch

When I traveled overseas I used something similar to this that made me feel like my valuables were extra secure. Especially in busy marketplaces where there are a lot of people.

Noone’s getting to my credit cards here!

9. Wine Bottle Sleeve

On our vacation in St. Augustine we visited a distillery and a winery so we bought several glass bottles that needed to somehow make their way home in our checked baggage.

I wrapped them as best I could and said a prayer that my clothes wouldn’t be soaked in alcohol when I got home. These will be coming with me on our next vacation!

10. Phone and Tablet Holder

I love to watch the in-flight movies when I fly. And while it’s not a huge deal to hold my phone up the whole time, I did find on my last flight while traveling with my son, that it would have been nice to be hands free.

And I appreciate that this product was created by a flight attendant!

Okay, tell me. Which of these travel gadgets would change your next flight? I think I’m most excited to try the phone and tablet holder.

If you found anything you’re thinking of buying you should probably pin this to Pinterest so you don’t forget about it! And I’ll be your friend if you do.

K, thanks!

  1. Since my husband and I are going to soon be embarking on our first European trip some this September, I loved reading this great article on things we certainly could definitely take advantage of. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I have definitely contemplated getting a foot rest. I find the height of the seats is just horrible for circulation and I hate sitting with my feet on the floor. I love researching products but never knew about the wine covers. We bring wine home from our favorite places when we travel and it is nerve wracking wondering if they’re going to break! Definitely going to check these out!!

    1. Right? Especially on a cross country flight when you barely have enough room to cross your legs. There’s a solution for everything these days! Thanks for stopping by ;).

  3. I could see 2, 3 and 5 coming in handy for the average flier……flyer…..well just say traveler lol.

  4. Hi thanks for the info, this are really helpful informations. I travel much between Europe and USA and to have things make your trip easy it is great idea?
